Over a career span of 25 years (1950 - 1975), Madan Mohan composed music for 95 released Hindi films and 12 shelved films. These 100 plus films featured almost 700 songs, many of which are remembered to this day while some have been lost over the years. He was extremely versatile, but he is best remembered for his ghazals, pathos-laden songs and classical based songs due to their immense popularity. His songs with Lata Mangeshkar in particular have become a part of Indian Film Music history.

Note:
1. * The version of "Mai Ri Main Kaase Kahoon" by Madan Mohan (Song 5 above) was not used in the film, but released from his master spools as a TRIBUTE for an album in 1975. The entire song with 3 Antras can be heard here.
2. The film also has various additional couplets and bandishes rendered by Lata Mangeshkar in the background.
3. Song 6 "Mai Ri Main Kaase Kahoon Peer Apne Jiyaa Ki" finally appeared in the film in the voice of LATA MANGESHKAR.
This rendition is the dummy recording done by Madanji on the music track when Lataji was unwell. The song was then dubbed later by Lataji. Madanji's rendition did not appear in the film, but this song in its entirety was given by his family from the master tapes when HMV wanted to release the album "A Tribute - Madan Mohan" and the entire original recording by Madanji can now be heard here.
4. Song 7 "Ham Hain Mataa-E-Kooch-O-Baazaar Kee Tarah" Finally appeared in DASTAK (1970), in the voice of LATA MANGESHKAR.
This film score won him the National Award. This song was composed on a ghazal written previously by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Madanji, lost in his composition, sings 'deewar' in place of 'bazaar' in a line or two, so rapt was he in his composing mood! Only the mukhda can be heard here, though the quality is not good.
Note:
1. Though both songs were filmed, Song 6 "Meree Duniyaa Mein Tum Aaee" was not in the initial release of the film. While Song 3 "Tere Kooche Mein Teraa Deewaanaa Aaj Dil Kho Baithaa" was. A few weeks later Song 3 was replaced by Song 6.
