A Musical Tribute to Madan Mohan, King of Ghazals 18 January 2010
Swarvikas, Sureshree and Swargandhar, presented an outstanding concert of Madanji songs TITLED THE KING OF GHAZALS.
The sold out show was held at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hall in Mumbai on Sunday, 17th January 2010, and was attended by Madanji's family.
Ambarish Mishra compered the show in his inimitable style, with many insights into Madanji's music, style and influence on the history of film music.
Vikas Bhatwadekar led a team of very talented singers including Anand Sawant, Shailaja Subramanian, Sonali Karnik, Yashoda Budhkar, Alaap Bhagwat and Vaibhavi Deshpande.
The songs that received the largest applause included Woh Chup Rahen, Phir Wohi Shaam, Lagja Gale Se, Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha, Humse Aaya Na Gaya, Main Yeh Sochkar, Rang Aur Noor Ki, Dil Dhoondta Hai, Baiyan Na Dharo,Hum Hain Mataye Koochao, Naina Barse, Zara Si Aahat, Meri Aankhon Se, among others. The haunting Kaise Kategi Zindagi and Mere Ashqon Ka Gham from the album Tere Bagair were also widely appreciated.
The audience was effusive in its appreciation and all asked as they were leaving, "When is the next Madanji event?"
