MADANJI's letters to his fans
12 June 2012

In those days, there was very little access to one's favorite creative talents... including the composers. There was very little to read about them, very little information about them, almost no pictures available as is today. Those were times when there was no multimedia, TV channels, interviews, Facebook, Internet etc... just a magazine or two, just the radio and the film in cinemas. Fans yearned to be in touch with their favorites and reached out to them through letters, requesting pictures and autographs. Sometimes the letters were in large quantity, and could not be replied individually. Facilities too were not so easily available, the post took weeks.

In Madanji's case too, often a typed format was made, and signed by him. Sometimes, if he was overwhelmed by the affection and admiration, he chose to write personally.

Mr. Felix Corea, a lover of old film music, recently shared with us two such letters that he had received from Madanji in the 60's.
